First Lego League (FLL) is an international competition for teams of young people (aged 9 to 16 years) that combines science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills with creativity and teamwork. Participants build and program autonomous robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS technology and compete in challenges that showcase their STEM and problem-solving skills.
FLL is organized into two main components: the Robot Game and the Project. During the Robot Game, teams compete with their robots on a themed playing field, attempting to score points by performing specific tasks with their robots. In the Project, teams research a real-world problem related to the theme of the competition, develop a solution, and present their findings to a panel of judges.
FLL provides an exciting and engaging way for young people to learn about STEM and develop essential skills, such as collaboration, critical thinking, and communication. It is designed to inspire and challenge participants to think like scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs.
